Library Instruction Request

 

This form is for HACC faculty to request library instruction for HACC classes. Librarians are available to conduct sessions tailored to your individual class needs. Please submit this form a minimum of one week prior to your requested date of instruction. Please submit one form for each class. A librarian will respond to confirm your class session. Faculty are expected to attend all library instruction sessions that they have requested unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Plagiarism 101 (HBG only)
Includes group activities and a discussion of various scenarios covering issues of academic dishonesty. (50 min)
Print Resources
Introduction to individual print resources in the reference collection; length depends upon the # of sources and which sources are chosen. (10-20 min)
Distinguishing b/w Popular Magazines & Scholarly Journals
Activities teach students to compare and contrast periodicals. Students will learn to distinguish b/w magazines, journals, and trade publications. (15-25 min)
Electronic Background Resources
Background resources are a great way to get started on a research paper. Choose from CQ Researcher, Facts.com, Opposing Viewpoints, and more. (20-30 min)
Evaluating Websites
Covers the basics of evaluation and includes a hands-on exercise for students to practice evaluation. Students will also learn techniques used to locate academic resources on the Internet. (15-30 min)
General Interest Databases
Learn basic searching in general databases like ProQuest, EBSCOhost, LexisNexis, and more. (10 min/database)
Library Tour
Best delivered when students have an assignment related to specific resources housed in the library or if have never been in the library. (15-20 min)
