This guide will help you find quality resources on contemporary issues in the music industry.

 

Terms You Need To Know

Here are some terms you need to understand before you start searching:

  • Abstract- The summary of an article
  • Citation- The information you need to cite the article (author, title, etc.)
  • Database- collection of information (book or magazine)
  • Full-text- The entire article is in the database
  • Peer-Review- A professional journal in a particular field of study
  • Periodical- Anything published periodically- magazine, newspaper, journal

              A comprehensive reference guide to all aspects of the recording industry. The 15 sections of this sourcebook cover such topics as               recording studios, venues, travel services, management and promotion.

Background Databases

Background databases provide the history of a topic, current situation, future of the topic, a bibliography, and links to articles and evaluated Web sites. Hint: Make sure to limit your search by date to get the most current information possible.

    Full text analytical reports on a wide range of current and controversial issues from 1923 to the present. Includes background, chronology, tables and maps, pro/con statements of opposing positions, and bibliographies.

            

  • Issues & Controversies @ FACTS.com
    Full text articles, primary source documents, statistical tables, editorials and more covering issues in the headlines. Includes pro and con statements for each issue.

            

  • Opposing Viewpoints (Gale)
    Full text articles on controversial topics. Includes topic overviews, contrasting viewpoints, primary source documents, statistics and links to websites.

    Full text articles from business journals and peer-reviewed business publications Covers all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, accounting, and finance. Includes market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles and SWOT analyses. Includes such trade journals as Billboard  and Music Week.
  • Newsbank
    Selected full text articles from Pennsylvania and national newspapers: The Patriot News (1986- ), Lancaster Inelligencer Journal (1995- ), Lancaster New Era (1995- ), Lancaster Sunday News (1995- ), Lebanon Daily News (09/15.2001- ), York Daily Record & Sunday News (09/16/2001- ), and the York Dispatch (09/2001- ).
